Students took part in a chemistry crime scene investigation staged by UCC chemistry department to experience some basic forensic science techniques using UV and IR spectroscopy. The task involved identifying the drug that caused the subjects death and also the quantity of the drug present in her blood.
The task was a great opportunity to experience chemistry’s application in forensic science and to discuss the study of science in UCC with both postgraduates and undergraduates visiting the school.
